Midnight Snack Starving, craving, needing somethingMidnight Snack by ~auscheer
more
In darkness I pull open the cupboard
Trembling fingers clamber over
nothing
A single tear escapes, weaving it's path
I am starving to death, too
empty
Greedily, I drink the warm tear
Not muted, I need more, I need
you
Sagging deflated downward, you left me
defeated.

United We many not be alignedUnited by ~auscheer
In strict religious terms.
She said, we pray to
Different Gods, we sit
In different pews.
We may debate the details
Of which rules to abide.
He said, but specifics,
Petty differences aside
We're all human.
And that means more than
Tired words, recycled prophets.
They said, who chain us
Together, toss us aside
And forget.
Besides, all we have, truly
Have, is each other.
You said, willing mere mortals
To pull together for another
In the end.

Simplicity I treasure;Simplicity by ~auscheer
Nusling the fur of a quilt,
Lying pressed firmly into a pillow,
Sharing secret smiles with the outside sky.
My pleasure;
In a crisp leaf tread under foot,
In 'I love you', scratched in ink,
In sitting, contemplating very little.
In leisure,
Running barefoot, on the morning grass,
Exploring unknown city corners,
Trailing after my wandering mind.
I measure;
Love, in the smallest gesture,
Happiness, in a fleeting joy,
Thrill, in a quickened heartbeat,
Life, in the simplest of pleasures.

Zebra Crossing Ants scurrying, weavingZebra Crossing by ~auscheer
Between each other.
Like the people
At the zebra crossing.
Waiting.
Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick Tick.
The people are halted.
And for a moment,
But for a moment,
At peace.
Short lived, with a piercing
intake of breath,
The pace resumes,
Relentless, unforgiving.

What is done cannot be undone so do not linger on the past, instead look to tomorrow.
